Hope you had fun picking apples. I recall apple picking as the best part of apple growing.
Growing apples is tedious work. You have to tend to the tree- nourish them, make sure they are growing fine. The birds come at them, you need to pick out those infested by worms, you gotta pluck those buds that look weak when there are two many of them on a bunch.
Apple trees look beautiful when they flower (that'll be another 6 months or so). crabapple trees are the best IMHO.
Oh yes, don't forget to try the apple cider's around here... they are great! And they probably don't taste as good once you are out of New England! (Yerp, a little New English snobbery here.) The supermart should have them.
